Welcome to Green Earth Bamboo!
At Green Earth Bamboo, we set out to accomplish two goals;
firstly, we wanted to find the “optimum” fabric for the line of products that
we wanted to carry. Well, we believe that we hit a home run with viscose from bamboo. You
can learn everything under the sun about viscose from bamboo as a fabric in our Organic
Fabric information section, but we would like to touch on a few of its
benefits here, so that you can make an informed decision while shopping on our
site.
We have gone through the rigors for you… of testing the
various products out there, be it organic cotton, Egyptian cotton, hemp, etc.,
and viscose from bamboo far and away stood tall and above the rest. Why you ask? For
starters, it was the softest of all the fabrics we sampled. Whether it was
bamboo sheets, bamboo towels, bamboo clothing, or bamboo baby products, we
found it to be the most comfortable of the products we sampled. The Bamboo Bed Sheets for example were more comfortable than high thread count,
Egyptian cotton sheets.
Bamboo Bedding has other great benefits as
well…people suffering from night sweats, for example, will find a significant
difference between our bamboo sheets and their old cotton sheets. Bamboo has
amazing wicking and absorption abilities. So, if you have night sweats you are
definitely going to want to try our bamboo bedding, duvet covers and sheets.
Next, bamboo is naturally antimicrobial and hypoallergenic.
What this means is that bamboo does not require any pesticides at any stage of
its growth or harvesting, unlike cotton and other fabric sources.
In addition to these great qualities, you will find bamboo
to be a very eco-friendly source when compared to other fabrics. For one thing…bamboo
can grow at an amazing rate of 3-4 feet a day making it a very sustainable
and renewable product. After analyzing the various fabrics out there, we feel that bamboo as a source is
the most eco-friendly choice.
We really believe that once you try any of our viscose from bamboo
products, you too will be telling all your friends about it. All the qualities
that you will find in our bamboo bedding are also present in our Bamboo
Clothing, bamboo bath products, and bamboo baby products.
And lastly, our Bamboo Baby Clothes and accessories…
If you have read this far then you now have a good command of the qualities and
benefits of viscose from bamboo fabric. As such, you can see why viscose from bamboo is the perfect
material to have on and around your baby.
Our second goal was quite simply to find the highest quality
bamboo bedding, clothing, Bamboo Bath Towels, and baby products. We
spent quite some time evaluating suppliers so that we could bring you the
highest quality items. We know that once you try our viscose from bamboo products you will
agree that this is a fabric that is far superior to anything else out there.
The fact that it happens to be produced from an eco-friendly, sustainable, renewable, pesticide and herbicide free source, is just icing on the cake.
We thank you for your patronage.

Our Eco-Friendly Bamboo Suppliers
On the subject of the processing of bamboo, it is important
to note that there are responsible and irresponsible ways of processing. Let me
start by telling you that after we made the decision to carry bamboo products,
we then went through a rigorous in-house screening process to find the right
suppliers for our various product lines. Admittedly our 1st priority
was to find the highest quality bamboo products in their respective product
categories. Our 2nd priority was to find companies that were “eco
conscious” and demonstrated it in their business practices.
An example of some eco-conscious practices that our
suppliers engage in relates to our viscose from bamboo bedding supplier. For starters, the
bamboo facility in China only makes viscose from bamboo fabric products for them. They go to
the facility twice a year and have a close relationship with the management and
workers at the facility. The facility is a friendly open environment like you
might find here in the states…this is not a “sweatshop” like you might find
with those that are simply looking to get the cheapest price on the products
that they sell. It is a very efficiently run and environmentally conscious facility.
Unlike most manufacturing facilities overseas, this one operates on a 97%
closed loop system. What this means is that there are large pools of water
whereby the chemicals are filtered out for reuse and the water is
filtered/cleaned to be used again in the process. In addition, their dyeing
facility spent over a million dollars to update its facility so that the water
is purified and ph balanced after the dyeing process.

Additional Information About Our Bamboo Products
What is so great about bamboo products?
There are several physical properties inherent in viscose from bamboo
fabric, which makes it a smart choice for you and your family. Here are several
reasons to choose bamboo:
Bamboo is naturally anti-microbial and anti-fungal in its raw state, and appears to show signs of this when produced into a fabric, based on actual case studies and scientific lab test results, as well as from our own personal experience of being able to eliminate athletes foot, foot odor and the lack of odor when wearing tshirts. However, we cannot state this with 100% certainty on our site until the FTC declares we are "allowed to". So for now, we'll let you be the judge.
Bamboo contains a natural agent called bamboo kun and
requires no harmful chemicals to prevent bacteria and fungus from cultivating
on it, making it an incredibly sustainable resource.
Bamboo is soft. Viscose from bamboo is softer than cotton and scientific tests prove it! It feels
more like your favorite cashmere sweater or your husband's top pick from your silk lingerie collection. Imagine
how a bamboo tee would feel, or a soft Organic Baby Blanket?
Bamboo is practical. Viscose from bamboo is more durable and less
expensive than silk or cashmere, but has a very high soil release value and can
be conveniently cleaned in your washer and dryer. This is especially nice for
your bamboo bath towels. There is just nothing finer than our Organic Towels.
Bamboo is comfortable. Bamboo Clothes feel better on
your skin, and it's
breathable, which keeps you drier. Viscose from bamboo fabric also acts as a thermal
regulator to your body temperature. Organic baby clothes are especially nice
for your little boy or girl.
Bamboo is hypoallergenic. Did you know that Bamboo's organic and natural fiber
properties make it naturally hypoallergenic? It is non-irritating to the skin,
and works extremely well for anyone having allergies, eczema, dermatitis or
other skin sensitivities.
Bamboo - Can it really cure athletes foot?
There are a couple of things we would like to mention here
that help to support the notion of bamboo socks having a positive effect on
athlete’s foot. The first item…we came across was a case study on just that. We
found it on the Utah State University website. It was in the form of an answer
to a question. In any case, the author was Karen Biers, Utah State University
Extension Clothing and Textiles Specialist. She writes; “Fifty individuals
suffering from athlete’s foot were asked to wear socks made from the
anti-bacterial bamboo. All individuals reported that the burning and itching
associated with the condition disappeared within one to two days after the test
began. Within two to six days, the blistering and sores characteristic of the
condition disappeared and the skin returned to normal.”
After we had come across the Utah State University article,
we had our personal, informal case study…so to speak.
Case Study on Bamboo Socks:
We had one friend in particular that we knew had some
unpleasant feet problems, that is, he suffered from excessive moisture and
swelling of the feet, creating quite a bit of discomfort and foot odor. As a
result he changed his socks on a regular basis - two to three times a day. We already knew how comfortable our
bamboo socks were, but giving them to our friend to try would be the ultimate
test.
We asked him to try a pair of our bamboo socks. After the
first day of wearing them, even we were surprised when we got the phone call.
He stated that the difference was “night and day”. He asked us what was in the
socks that could make such a dramatic difference? He further went on to say
that while he knew his feet were sweating…somehow the socks were not wet.
Additionally, he experienced no swelling in his feet as he always had before.
We asked if he would mind wearing them for 3 straight days to really put them
to the test, and he agreed to do so. The results at the end of day 3 were truly
astonishing! Not only did his feet lack their usual perspiration, the socks
were dry, his feet were softer and, (drum roll please) no foot odor!
We knew that our Bamboo Socks were very comfortable, but
this really confirmed it for us. His final comment to us was, “I need 12 more
of these, I will never wear cotton socks again”. In conclusion, we would say,
if you do have any kind of problems with your feet, or would just love to
experience some truly comfortable socks, give our bamboo socks a try…you’ll be
glad you did.
Bamboo and Organic Cotton Mix:
Perhaps you are wondering why most of our products are 100%
viscose from bamboo but some are 70% viscose from bamboo / 30% cotton? Well, let me explain –
Whenever possible we use 100% viscose from bamboo products, that being said, there are
certain products that due to the knit of the fabric and other factors, we
simply get a better product by mixing in a small percentage of organic cotton.
So, while 100% viscose from bamboo works perfectly and gives us the best possible product
for our sheets, our towels are at their pinnacle with a 30% organic cotton mix. All of our product pages give the full breakdown of the material make-up for your convenience.
Thread Count - what does it really mean?
Let’s start with the definition of “thread count”: The number of threads contained in one square inch of
fabric, including both the length and width threads.
This has been a hotly debated topic for some time now. Here is why-
Fibers make up the individual strands of yarn used in the
manufacturing of, sheets, for example. The debate has always been, if the yarn
is comprised up of two strands, should it be counted as one or two? In the case
of a “2 strand” yarn being counted as one, a 250 thread count sheet would be
just that, 250 t.c. However, many manufacturers would call this a 500 t.c.,
arguing that there are 500 threads per sq. inch, not 250.
Many manufacturers use various manipulation techniques to
give their product an artificially inflated thread count. The bottom line is
this: In reality there are many
other factors like the thickness of the threads and the quality and finish of
the fibers that could potentially have a more significant impact on the comfort
and finish of your sheets.
In truth, all other things being equal, most people would
not be able to differentiate between a 300 t.c. sheet and a 500 t.c. sheet. In
our opinion, an 800 t.c., $500.00 set of sheets, has a bit of a placebo effect
on the consumer.
A perfect example is: Our 100% viscose from bamboo sheets are 250 t.c.
They are a very high quality product, but starting at $170.00, admittedly not
the cheapest sheets on the market. We did a side by side comparison with some
very expensive, very high t.c. sheets. It was very obvious to us which sheets
were softer and more comfortable. Yes, it was the bamboo sheets. So, we took it
a step further and decided to test them out on night sweats. You can read all about this on our blog post Natural Remedies for Night Sweats that Might Surprise You!
If you have any credible links that would provide more
insight into “thread count”, we are always happy to hear from our customers.
